Geomatics Diploma
A bootcamp in remote sensing, photogrammetry and LiDAR, built around capturing, processing and delivering real-world spatial data.
Ask about this programThis diploma focuses on how spatial data is captured and turned into usable products, from satellite and drone imagery to 3D point clouds. It is made up of 20 micro-credentials (600 hours) and finishes with a 40-hour capstone or work-integrated learning placement.
What you will learn
Foundation
Geospatial fundamentals and spatial thinking, coordinate systems and geodesy, GIS data models and cartography, Python for geospatial automation, and spatial databases (SQL) with QA/QC and data governance.
Remote Sensing & Image Analytics
Optical, thermal and SAR remote sensing, digital image processing for Earth observation, image classification and accuracy assessment, deep learning for imagery, and change detection with time-series analytics.
Photogrammetry & Reality Modelling
Structure from motion, aerial triangulation and bundle adjustment, orthophoto, DSM and mesh production, UAV mapping operations and mission planning, and 3D reality model delivery.
LiDAR & Point Clouds
Terrestrial, airborne and mobile LiDAR acquisition, point cloud processing and classification, asset feature extraction (roads, poles, rails, buildings, vegetation), point cloud QA/QC and deliverables, and multi-sensor fusion with imagery and GNSS/INS.
Optional advanced electives
Navigation, SLAM & HD Mapping; Digital Twins, BIM-GIS & Smart Infrastructure; and GeoAI (machine learning and deep learning for spatial data).
Capstone (40 hours)
finish with a real project or work-integrated learning placement, including a problem statement, a data pipeline with QA/QC reports, a processing workflow, and a final portfolio presentation or demo video.
